Project Background

The Town of Slave is in the process of updating the town's Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB) to reinforce the ability of these documents to effectively and efficiently guide the use and development of land within the town.

The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) communicates the long-term desired land use framework for the community, and serves as a high-level roadmap for how the community is planned to change over time.

The Land Use Bylaw (LUB) is the document that governs the town's land uses and development. The LUB uses a wide range of regulations that influence individual properties, including the size of the land and buildings, the requirements for site design, and the uses permitted, among other factors.

Project Update

The project has gone through the first phase of public engagement which included a Project Survey, Open House, and Project Team meetings with the Technical Advisory Committee, and Planning Advisory Committee. This phase of engagement focused on identifying 'Issues and Opportunities' which influenced the first draft of the updated Municipal Development Plan and provided important background for the initial review of the Land Use Bylaw.

Survey

This survey, drafted by the consultant team, is part of the second phase of engagement, which will inform the first draft of the updated Land Use Bylaw. This survey is designed to gather community input for key topics and regulations being evaluated for the Land Use Bylaw update. Your input will help determine the community's level of interest, and level of comfort with potential directions being considered for the first draft of the Land Use Bylaw.

This survey is broken down into the following four sections: (1) Administrative Regulations; (2) Specific Use Regulations; (3) Land Use Districts; and (4) General Development Regulations.

Please note that you are not required to provide answers to all sections of this survey as some sections are lengthy. You may select one or more sections to provide feedback.
