Think of a brand as your reputation to the outside world. It is a combination of experiences, perceptions, thoughts, images, and feelings that an individual associates with a particular organization or community. A community's brand is similar to a personality. Its attributes define who and what a community is all about. Successful brands inform stakeholders, (particularly those from outside the community) in a memorable way, about the community, its people, and its core values.

A brand is made up of experiences, and the quality of those experiences is imperative. By mapping out and managing every experience a stakeholder has with the Town of Slave Lake, we can ensure that Slave Lake's value stands out amongst similar communities and is communicated in a remarkable and consistent way at every interaction.

A community with a strong brand is more competitive when it comes to attracting new businesses, investments, visitors, and residents. The new brand and logo support the region's economic development efforts moving forward by strengthening the overarching brand of the Town while it works to attract businesses and investors to the area and make meaningful connections with target audiences including prospective businesses, residents, and visitors. This new visual identity will help move Slave Lake away from being seen as another small town in Alberta rooted in tradition to one that offers more modern opportunities for residents, investors, and visitors. The previous brand and visual identity were developed in the 1970's and was designed for print applications only. The new logo is designed to clearly identify the Town of Slave Lake in digital applications and mobile platforms and:

    • Demonstrates community cohesiveness to attract community-minded business owners, residents, and visitors.
    • Provides an opportunity to leverage connections across our partners.
    • Puts forward an updated and modern approach to telling the story of the Town of Slave Lake.
