Apex Public Security Unit

At the June 11, 2024 Council Committee of the Whole, Town Council decided to hire Apex Security on a two-month trial basis to enhance community security.

Apex Public Security Unit began its patrols within the community on Friday, June 21, 2024. These security officers are sworn bylaw officers of the Town of Slave Lake and have the ability to enforce Town bylaws. The Public Security Unit runs 12-hour shifts exclusively during the overnight hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).

At the July 9, 2024 Council Committee of the Whole, Town Council voted in favour of extending the two-month trial basis for Apex Security. This extension, aimed at further enhancing our community's safety, now spans 4 months (until October 18, 2024).

Town Council will discuss continuing the Apex Security Contract at the September 10, 2024 Committee of the Whole Meeting and would like to hear from residents on their views on the Apex Public Security Unit.

The survey is now closed. Results will be collected and presented to Council during the September 10, 2024 Committee of the Whole Meeting.
