Relevant Information
Regulated child care: refers to child care that is delivered through a licensed child care centre or regulated family child care home. In order to be regulated, a centre or home must meet and maintain the requirements under the Early Learning and Child Care Act and regulations and related policies. Regional child care services staff regularly monitor and support regulated child care services to ensure these standards are maintained.
Assistance is available to help offset the costs of child care for eligible families under the Government of Alberta's Child Care Subsidy Program. Eligible families can apply for child care subsidies if they have children aged 0 - Grade 6 enrolled in:
Licensed facility based program (daycare, out of school care and preschool).
Family day home program overseen by a licensed family day home agency.
Group family child care centre.
Subsidy rates vary based on the child's age, family income, the child care program, and the number of hours a child attend each month.
